Falling Away
And so it’s over
But it hadn’t been enough
Was he deceived?
But somehow he changed
Her personal nightmare
He meant the world
But he couldn’t explain
Of anything gone wrong
And though at one time
and so he said to her
he didn’t look back
with that, she was left
and without him
he was her everything
she winced at the sting
Now if he were to turn
And he would find
10/09/01
He fell away
said the words
she never wanted him to say
he’d set his heights high
and suddenly found
they were heights she couldn’t fly
or had he been blind
to some awful conclusion
she never would find?
couldn’t look her in the eyes
couldn't say the “I love you”s
with all the “goodbye”s
Her one biggest fear
Was to lose him, her love
and not have him near
and still would, for always
she couldn’t move on
from the slow, painful daze
something didn’t feel right
something he never noticed
until after that night
this was the worst
he should have been her only
not just her first
he had shared her devotion
he was suddenly lacking
that once-strong emotion
his last, final goodbyes
and tried to ignore
the tears in her eyes
for he couldn’t bear
to see the pain in her form
the silent death in her stare
cold, empty, and alone
her world of troubles
now completely her own
She couldn’t go on
and she knew, soon
that she would be gone
her very faith in life
but he was no more
so she took to the knife
then the steady, sharp ache
but she’d made her decision
no room for mistake
to come back to her side
he’d find her lying there
with still nothing to hide
that he was too late
that she had surrended
to her sad twist of fate
All right, so it's a bit morbid... It started out halfway normal, just sort of touching on the idea of a "tragic" breakup, and evolved into something more obviously extreme.
