Ah, Kalen. He makes Boston proud. He posted on the message board just before the Boston's 2001 summer fan meet, saying he'd be there (playing the center blue man)... So we were able to identify him and say hi after the show. He was very friendly and got us all signatures and photos... The following November I saw him again, and after the show he was the only blue man we were able to talk to (the other two had already left the lobby). But that was quite all right, because Kalen rules. Anyways, after that show I headed over to him and said "hi, Kalen!" He almost immediately looked kinda weirded out and said quietly, "how do you know my name?" I explained about the fanmeet thing, and he said, "OH ok," hehe. More than a year later, I saw him again (with Matt, Gee, and a bunch of others) on BMG's 2003 Complex Tour. We were lucky enough to get backstage afterwards, where Matt and I approached him and said "hi, Kalen!" Just as before, he looked a bit startled and, with a little weirded-out smile, said "did you just say my name?" Laughing, I reminded him that he did the same thing the LAST time we saw him, and then he remembered us (or pretended to, heh heh). [Note from post-artwork-creation: The next time I saw him, at my 2nd Complex tour show, he remembered me, and was totally prepared for my hug (I was so tickled!). He even said, "it's good to see you again." Yay! I've also seen Kalen a couple times since, and he again remembered me. So the era of "how do you know my name?" is over, but it was fun while it lasted!]
ANYways! Enough of my random babblings...
The whole point was supposed to be that Kalen is awesome. He's one of my favorites, in fact. His style of movement and expression is much like Chris Wink's (back in the older Tonight Show days). He's perfectly hilarious to watch. And he has such big eyes... everyone who's seen him comments on them. Oh, and you might not expect it, but his voice is really super-low! Nice.
