Somehow, even in gobs of blue paint, this guy is just beautiful. I think it's his eyes... they're the window to the soul, you know. And he has fabulously bright green eyes framed with long lashes. He's a very sweet guy, too--he must be since he put up with my 15-year-old-girl antics way back when (seems so long ago...), hehe. ;)
To again quote Brett Gillen, because he seems to put into words the very concepts I want to say (except he does it with so much more grace--I kinda just ramble until I think "my point must be in there SOMEwhere"): "...it's only natural that we would, consciously or sub-consciously, latch-on to one or another particular actor, someone who seemed to embody the spirit of the character, or some aspect of it, in some particularly resonating way. I think it's entirely okay to have favorites." And that is my view on Bryce... He's been my favorite since I first saw him perform, and I think he'll always be my favorite, despite the long gap since I've seen him (due to his moving to Chicago, where he is continuing his career as a Blue Man)... there's just something about his portrayal of the Blue Man that is perfectly in tune with my ideals (whether I realize them specifically or not). I can't really explain why his particular character/performance is so dear to me, but I suppose that's part of the draw of it...
This artwork has a few things in it that are "personalized"... contact me if you're curious. In general, it's supposed to be "city-like" with both night and daytime alive, which is partly why it's so crazy/busy... It's not really a very cohesive piece, but the more I look at it, the more it makes sense to me and the more I like it, because I find myself getting dragged back to those eyes--which is just the effect I was looking for! Sweet. Uh, sorry, I think I'm babbling. um, anyways. Sorry this one's so gosh-dang big. The edges just got bigger and bigger... and since Bryce's eyes were such a focus for me, I couldn't downsize... um, my bad.
Anyways, Bryce was and still is the best blue man I've ever seen. =) Miss you much, Bryce!
