This artwork was inspired by the incredible 2004 Boston Fanmeet. (You can read about it and see some pictures by going to my review of the weekend.) All of the fans who attended had such a great time, and throughout our entire stay, Boston BMG was exceedingly kind, funny, and welcoming. On fanmeet day, many of us ushered a show before seeing our paid one, and by doing that we ended up seeing all 6 Boston Blue Men (including the new guy) in one day! The House Staff was friendly and helpful, and the band was awesome as always. I had such a great weekend that on my way home on the T, I found myself sketching out a plan for an art to represent the memories.
In this art, the three center Blue Men represent those that played our meet show, and the other three are those that played our ushering show. The entire artwork is from scratch, except for the eyes of the Blue Men--they are taken from actual photos of each Blue Man to be represented. Furthermore, each Blue Man is drawn with some memorable element from the weekend... The music staff is a dorky shout-out to the Charles Staff, and the band's uniforms are represented as well. The PVC (which is also from a picture, actually) is included because a high point of all three shows I saw was the performance of "PVC IV," and white stripes represent paper and shaving cream. A faint orangeish U-shape is a nod to the set-up of the Charles, while it's tint refers to the Orange Line, which the Charles is near.
Anywho... Blue Man Group Boston at the Charles Playhouse, "Rules." ;)
