Club Nowhere

This piece is based on the song "Club Nowhere" (Audio), which has a very dark and solemn feel to it... but at the same time, it teems with depth and emotion. The chords swell in and out, and the gentle rhythms of the PVC are both poignant and soothing. Thus, the background world of this piece is complex and multi-layered, but soft and fading to a dark nothingness, while the PVC adds some structure and notion of spatial arrangement. As for the Blue Men... they seem grief-stricken in a way--each one dealing with some inner pain in his own manner. On the left, the Blue Man is turning into the darkness, looking off into some unseen dimension of sadness. The right Blue Man is entirely different, looking out of the darkness with wide, bright eyes--his face is almost welling up, expressing something inside that he could not ever say in words (even if he could/would speak). The Blue Man in the middle understands and empathizes with this, and holds a compassionate, guiding hand on his companion's shoulder. All three seem lost in a way, as if they have just come to realize or understand some deep sadness...

The same sort of feeling was recognized during "The Complex" on BMG's tour... a sense of helpless grief, a cry from a deeply trapped soul. It may be for just a few moments, but in the second where that Blue Man's deep, knowing countenance looks out into the crowd, there is an emotional power present. It's a struggle of the soul, a longing to find one's world, one in which he can share with all others in harmony. It's a calm, silent protest to the mechanical and superficial qualities of existence, a reaching for the depths of meaning and feeling, where most don't dare delve--"Club Nowhere."
