Vegas Trip 2001
"Live at Luxor," Luxor Theater, 02/25/01 and 03/02/01.

BLUE MAN GROUP!! Oh yay! My parents, lux, 27, and I went to see the 7:00 show on Sunday, 02/25/01.
My mom was the Olympic person (lux's doing), and it was so funny, because she had to wave, and had been creative and made handcuffs out of her paper, haahha...
The show was so awesome! I didn't remember so much of it, with the visually spectacular effects and incredibly powerful music. For example, I remembered "TV Song" to be much more 2D. Very impressive! I made a point to watch the band here and there, as well, although it was really hard to tear my gaze from the blue men. The twinkie girl was funny--absolutely terrified! It was so cute, how the blue men had to coax her onstage... and back to the table when she tried to run away. I sung "White Rabbit", and couldn't resist getting up and dancing/jumping at the end of KLF (again). Hehe.
Aww... the end of the show... but you know what that means! Meet and greet time!
After meeting the band and getting a picture with them, we headed over to the first blue man (Eric, who did the Phil part). I didn't get any pictures, but I did shake his hand and compliment him (he quietly smiled and said thank you, I love it when they do that)...
We then went to the Chris part blue man (Matthew), whom I gave a hug (ah, there's another check on my list of lifetime goals!). There was a little ripple of chuckles from the surrounding crowd when I asked him if I could, and a big "awwwww" when we actually hugged. He was an amazing drummer--you should've seen him rock out on the PVCs!--and I told him so. For the compliment, he gave me a soft thank you (and if I remember correctly, that subtle blue man smile).
The last blue man, Anthony (and also my favorite), I didn't get to talk to, because the blue men had to leave... But some guy did ask him for some weird pose picture, it was kinda cute.

On Friday, lux and I headed back to the Luxor to see the 10:00 show. We were there really early, it was fun. We sat in the second row in the back section, centered, this time. This time, I was the Olympic person. Heh. Thanks Sharon!! The show was incredible, again, and the music seemed especially AWESOME that time. Might've been where we were situated--the surround sound rocked. I love Mandelgroove, with the two tubulums... Man, that show is so awesome!
While lux and I waited in the crowd to exit the theatre, my parents were already waiting in the lobby... My dad got a couple shots of the band as they arrived for the meet-and-greet.
When lux and I finally got to the lobby, we didn't have much time to hang with the band or blue men--but I did get to talk to Jeff, the band member who I talked with the Sunday before. He remembered me, yay! And then I met Richele, an awesome drummer. She's lux's favorite bandie, and for some reason he thinks he's special because she'll give him hugs. Pshaw. ;) Anyways, she was really nice! There is Jeff on the left. My dad asked me, seeing this pic on the comp, if I cut him out of the picture (or if that's how it was taken), and I was like, "no way would I cut him out! Jeff's my buddy!" Haha... you know, he's not really my buddy--he's just a nice guy--but I'd like to think he's my pal. Man, I'm all pathetic.
One of the staff members was nice enough to get us to Anthony (who did the Phil part that night)... I told him he was my favorite (of the week)--very giddiliy, I'm sure--and gave him a half-hug when we got a picture with him.
The same staff member who ensured us a pictiure with Anthony brought us backstage, where the stage manager (I think that's her title?) was briefing the show to the band members (what they did well, what needs improvement, etc.). She was really nice, and gave us a tour of backstage. It is HUGE back there! Because lux has been back there before, and told me a lot of stuff, neither of us had really any questions. It's amazing how quickly those people can clean up that theater though--what a mess!
Ah, that show is so incredible... Hopefully I can get back there someday while BMG still reigns! It was so cool seeing blue man posters every 30 feet, heh... I had to wonder if CMP find it strange to have their faces plastered all over Las Vegas. Oh wait, I mean, how the blue men feel...
